01-our-lady-star-miranda-student-voiceAt Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School, we deeply value the importance of student voice in all aspects of school life and our community is richer through the authentic input of students. Our students are given Voice and Choice in Learning as well. They have the opportunity to engage with research tasks, Passion Projects, Mini Vinnies, Genius Hour, and Grasp Tasks.

We run a year-round Student Representative Council (SRC) from Years 2-5 with 2 reps per class. Our school has two school captains, two Vice Captains, four Prefects from Year 6, along with eight colour captains. Further to our various leadership programs and offerings:

  • Year 6 students have the opportunity to participate in the Sydney Catholic Schools ‘Pope Francis Award.
  • Years 5 and 6 students welcome our Kindergarten children by pairing up as their ‘buddies’.
  • Students partake in leading whole school assemblies.
  • Autonomy is fostered as students engage with learning under the Autonomous Learning Mode.
